I was rendering up some beauty shots for my first 3D print project and I thought HM! This render looks like.... not total shit. Therefore, must make a painting out of it. Lot's of smudge-brushing and noodle-doodling later..... voila.

This looks cool as hell. Where's the original render? I want to see that as well. Very intricate shape. What 3D tools did you use here?

Thanks. :) I will be posting the original renders soon. As for what tools, Maya and Zbrush. I got the 3D print back and it looks awesome. I will be posting pics of that too. :D

Maya? I would not have guessed Maya. Why? Don't know. Usually peeps from 2D expertise don't migrate to Maya, first off. Zbrush; not a bit of a shock to me at all; that's standard software for every CG artist with experience in illustration now-a-days. When I saw your gallery, I immediately thought, "Cinema4D". Don't ask me why, it's not a tech thing, nor an artistic preference, just gut reaction; but I was wrong... MAYA... WOW. U-R-A Bad-ass. ;) Just teasing ya a bit. Would love to see the 3D version of this shape. Happy New Year.

Hah! XD Thanks. How much would it blow your mind to find out that I used to be a strict traditional-only artist, then I went straight to Maya, then to Photoshop, and I resisted Zbrush for YEARS before I finally gave in and tried it and now it is my favorite software. :D

Mind=blown. Haha. That's awesome though. I have the free version of Zbrush... Sculptris, I think it's called. I have only dabbled in it momentarily last month, but since school is all 3dsmax (it's what they are instructing us on too), I spend 99% of my time in there, modeling. I have you on my watch now, so I'll keep an eye out for anything new. :)

Thanks. :) I really hope I can start selling some because if I could make a living off doing this kind of thing, it would be AWESOME. That would be quite literally a dream come true.
